The students created a plant cell using candy, a crazy straw and beads. They all created their own cells while chanting the part and its job. We then made one GIANT class cell together in two plastic baggies representing the cell wall and cell membrane. We used the same candy for the same parts and added a nucleus (pink gum ball), cytoplasm (vegetable oil), and a vacuole (pink balloon filled with water). They loved chanting the jobs of the parts and touching the cell. Today they got to use the Mimio votes to answer questions based on this project. Great job class!!!
