Reading Rewards!!!

Dear Parents,

I have set a goal for the students in the beginning of the year to read as many books as they possibly can. They have all exceeded my expectations and now they will be rewarded for their great efforts! I have set up a system that rewards the students every 25 books read. If they read less than 25 books they will still get a full sized candy bar in recognition of their efforts. I have noticed that most of the class likes Under Armour clothing so I have decided to give Under Armour prizes for 25, 50, 75, and 100 books read! If they don’t like a prize choice in their category, but they like one in a category below theirs, then they can choose that instead. For example, if they read 50 books, but rather have something from the 25 category they may do so. Thank you for encouraging literacy in your home! Happy reading!!!

Sincerely,

Miss Tygert

P.S. Next week is Screen-Free week and this would be a great time to get a lot of reading done!

PBIS Assembly

Today in the assembly the the teachers had a chance to perform the WRONG behavior for two instances. In the first two pictures we are excluding Mrs. Striker from our play. The students then got a chance to explain what we did wrong and what we can do to improve. Then the Student Council members perform and show what students she look when being safe, respectful and responsible. No one wants to feel like how Mrs. Striker does in these photos.

In the last two pictures Mrs. Chovan is trying to review the rules of the playground, but we are not being respectful of her. We are not listening and I am even practicing my ballet while she tries to get us to listen. The students did a great job explaining what we should be doing and how we can be respectful, responsible and safe. Again, the Student Council members did a MUCH better job displaying PBIS characteristics.

Great job to all who were involved in this successful PBIS Assembly! Have a great weekend!!!

There will be fun projects mixed in with comprehension questions about informational texts.

This week they are working on division of decimals by whole numbers, investigating decimal division, dividing decimals, writing zeroes in the dividend and problem solving with decimal operations.  There are worksheets for review called reteach for the entire chapter and the answers attached to this paper.  Their Unit 5 Test will be on Tuesday 2/11/14 next week and they will get a review day with me before the test. They should bring home their textbook this week and practice using the odd numbered questions (we do evens in class).

I would like to take a moment to commend all “my” parents and students. Your children worked so hard this quarter and it really shows with their jump in grades. As the students may tell you I don’t give grades they earn their grades. Boy did they earn them this quarter! The curriculum is intense and they are working tirelessly for me. I receive compliments regarding the students’ work ethic and behavior DAILY.  You have raised very wonderful children, parents; and to my students you rock! Thank you!

PBIS

Here are some pictures from the PBIS assembly today. We had a great time watching the teachers model the wrong things to do on the bus and in the cafeteria. They got a lot of laughs and cheers. Then the student council students modeled the proper behavior in the cafeteria and on the bus. They did a great job! They also awarded different prizes for positive behaviors. Mr. Lane's class won the golden dustpan and Mrs. Walsh & Mrs. Durant's classes had the most school spirit. There were also four golden tickets pulled and they awarded cool prizes.
